One of the best ways to help ease our community with pet overpopulation is to adopt instead of shop for your next pet. Thank you for visiting the Humane Society of Tulsa’s website as you consider adoption of a pet. If you aren’t finding what you have in mind on our website, please take the time to visit our facilities. That personal visit can help you make the right decision on the right type of pet, and our staff is always there to help with that decision.

Most people are concerned if their home will be a good fit for a certain pet, especially if you have existing pets. We encourage you to set up an appointment with one of our facilities and bring your pet for a meet and visit.

We make diligent efforts to assure that each pet we place for adoption is healthy. However, there are times that a new fur member of the family will become sick after they go home with you. This could be that they were ill before we received them and that illness wasn’t visible to us. And sometimes, it is the stress of being placed in new surroundings.

Know that you won’t be alone in getting through this time of adjustment or any illness, though. The Humane Society of Tulsa partners with VCA Animal Hospitals to provide complimentary follow-up visits after the first week. You will be given a limited health guarantee and the opportunity to purchase Pet Health Insurance at a discounted rate. We do not offer reimbursement for any expenses or veterinary costs that you may incur after adoption.

You will be required to complete an application and sign an Adoption Contract once you are approved. Because we are often at capacity and have so many animals out there that need our services, you are required to pick up your new family member within 24 hours after your application is approved.
