You see the commercials on television, the ads in the newspaper, and the events taking place for rescue animal organizations. But do you realize the importance these organizations serve? The non-profit dog rescues in Tulsa and all around the country are an important part of society. The diligent hard work they provide help bring closure to those horrific facilities known as puppy mills.
A puppy mill is where dogs are breed and the puppies are mass-produced then sold for a profit. These places do not have any regard for their parent’s or the puppy’s health, much less their emotional well-being. The more active organizations like Animal Rescue Corps, ASPCA, and the Humane Society become, the less these places will be able to operate in the back alleys and backyards.
Those photos you see on commercials of sick dogs are not photo ops. These are photos of dogs that are real. They are living in squalor and are neglected of basic care so that these mills can make a profit. The collaboration of these groups and others have made remarkable success with their efforts in ceasing this cruelty.
These organizations need your help, though. If you can’t offer financial support, then donate your time or donate items they can use. Be a voice if you can’t do anything else. Each person that speaks up is one more voice for those that can’t speak for themselves.
